หมวกพิเศษนี้ถูกตั้งชื่อว่า Vihelm ซึ่งดูจากลักษณะภายนอกแล้วมีส่วนคล้ายกับหมวกกันน็อก แต่ทีมนักเรียนชาวเวียดนามเจ้าของผลงานได้ออกแบบหมวกเป็นแบบพิเศษให้มีขนาดใหญ่ขึ้น ไม่อึดอัด โดยมีช่องติดถุงมือให้ผู้สวมใส่สอดมือเข้าไปสัมผัสใบหน้าได้ สำหรับกรณีที่อาจมีอาการคันบริเวณใบหน้า หรือต้องการปาดเหงื่อ โดยที่ไม่ต้องถอดหมวก

นอกจากนี้หมวกดังกล่าวยังติดตั้งท่อที่สามารถเชื่อมต่อไปยังเครื่องฟอกอากาศ ช่วยให้ผู้สวมใส่ได้รับอากาศที่สะอาด ลดความเสี่ยงติดเชื้อโควิด-19 ด้วย

ทีมนักเรียนเจ้าของผลงานระบุว่า แนวคิดการพัฒนาหมวกมีจุดเริ่มต้นมาจากปัญหาที่พบว่า ชุดป้องกันการติดเชื้อสำหรับบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ (PPE) แม้จะมีความปลอดภัย แต่ไม่สะดวกสบาย โดยเฉพาะเมื่อต้องสวมใส่เป็นเวลานาน โดยมีต้นทุนการผลิตอยู่ที่ราว 300 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐฯ หรือราว 9,400 บาท ต่อหมวก 1 ใบ
